What we eat is crucial for protecting our planet. A beloved Swedish indie rock band took the science to heart - and transformed into a food truck. “We need both humour and seriousness to change” says Thomas Öberg.
As a grand finale after 30 years of touring, legendary Swedish band Bob Hund took their farewell tour into an unexpected direction — transforming from rock icons into a rolling experiment.
“We don't give people what they want, we give people what we imagine they need,” says Thomas Öberg, lead singer of Bob Hund.
Starting at Way Out West festival in Gothenburg, the band launched a food truck serving resilient meals – developed together with a team of researchers including Per Olsson and Line Gordon at Stockholm Resilience Centre and Elin Röös from SLU.
"Food is one of our biggest climate challenges – but also a force for change. Through the collaboration with Bob Hund and LiveGreen , research reaches out in new ways, where music and science together can inspire change,” says Centre Director Line Gordon.

Blending creativity and science
The resilient recipes are inspired by Bob Hund’s four decades of musical history, blending creativity and science.
With “punk stew” as one of the dishes, Bob Hund highlights that transformations to sustainability do not only require facts, but also things that are desirable — and fun.
Martin Kann, Bob Hund’s creative director, and food truck designer points out:
“Transformation doesn’t work well if we take ourselves too seriously. We need both humour and seriousness to change – enough concern to act, but not so much fear that people shut down.”
The food truck initiative is part of PLATE – the new research centre for resilient meals, in collaboration with Axfoundation and LiveGreen. The food truck chef is Tau Mandéus from the company Bun Bun.
The food truck will continue its journey towards Stockholm, leading up to Bob Hund’s very last concert on 30 August 2025 at a sold-out venue Zinkensdamms IP.
